[MAY 5, 2025 (10:15 AM PDT)]
Last night, it was announced that Trump ordered the US Bureau of Prison to prepare to house prisoners at Alcatraz.
Closed in 1963 by then Attorney General, Robert F Kennedy, the facility was deemed too dilapidated and expensive to maintain; seriously, as someone who took the tour a few years-ago, the idea sounds like a money-pit for many of the reasons outlined in the several articles read this morning.
CNN: US BUREAU HEAD TO EXECUTE ORDER TO REOPEN ALCATRAZ
On Monday, the US Bureau of Prisons Director William K. Marshall III said his agency will “pursue all avenues” to implement Trump’s plans for reopening Alcatraz.
“I have ordered an immediate assessment to determine our needs and the next steps. USP Alcatraz has a rich history. We look forward to restoring this powerful symbol of law, order, and justice. We will be actively working with our law enforcement and other federal partners to reinstate this very important mission,” Marshall said in a statement
The SF Chronicle was highly skeptical with statements from several prominent politicians
“The President’s proposal is not a serious one,” Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi said Sunday in a social media post, in which she noted that it was now a “very popular national park and major tourist attraction.”
At this hour, we have the Benicia, CA based Valero Refinery--once again--on fire:

CT& Reasoning has reported on the future closure of the refinery and the Chevron Refinery in Richmond planned for 2026.
That is it for now. Expect more unusual and unhinged messaging from the administration.
