Everything seems to be pretty calm and as near normal, yet the developments with the war games, Russia responding by holding tactical nuclear exercises, and coming on the heels of last week's summit between China's Xi and Putin, now we are seeing an even more aggressive exercise resembling a blockade of Taiwan.

Back to the Taiwan situation, many of us--including myself--were unaware of the existence of Taiwanese governed islands just miles off the Chinese mainland.

The exercises took place all around the main island, and for the first time also targeted the Taipei-controlled islands of Kinmen, Matsu, Wuqiu and Dongyin which lie close to the Chinese coast, according to maps released by China's People's Liberation Army (PLA).

It has been well known that not only have there been US Marines engaged in training on Taiwan's main island but rumored to be US Army Green Berret's training on these smaller islands.
