Lastly, I just found this update while looking for yesterday's article on the US decision NOT to send two ships into the Black Sea; admittedly, I have had a longtime awareness of Turkey and Russia having a freedom of navigation agreement that allows a small number of NATO Warships to enter The Black Sea; furthermore, Crimea is and has been part of Russia dating back centuries, Obviously, it is where a large part of their naval/submarine base is located and their strategic waterway to move their forces from The Black Sea on into the Mediterranean.
The assertion that they invaded Crimea is somewhat of a red-herring or a falsehood peddled by neocon republicans and the war mongers in the leadership of the democrats.
I even wrote a post in the usually lighthearted simplertimeandplace.com--years ago--regarding the foolishness of holding exercises and even stationing armored infantry troops and Marines in the Baltic States [Lithuania Latvia & Estonia] right against Russia's border; for the same reason, plopping-down an Aegis [normally on US Navy Cruisers & Destroyers] Air Defense Array in Poland--leading in-large-part to the demise of the Intermediate Nuclear Forces Treaty [INF] gave us a first-strike advantage.This poking-of-the-bear getting largely underway when The USN began undertaking provocative maneuvers in the Black Sea starting around 2014.
We have long broken the agreement not to encroach upon the sovereignty of Russia which was at the spirit of negotiations at the time of the Fall of The Berlin Wall and subsequent break-up of the Soviet Union.
I am afraid we are just about ready to learn how much trouble we are in: divided, distracted, and locked-down by this medical tyranny, and rife for a future invasion.

I come from an era where the US was the dominant superpower and served as a Cold War US Army Infantryman stationed in what was then West Germany. It is unfathomable to think of such an outcome and not anything most of the staring-in-the-phone all-day crowd think can ever happen.

I guess it is time to pull all of the U.S. Troops out of the Middle East and bring them back home -but- Keep them in Combat Mode because this could possibly end up in another - bloody -@- deadly War.🤔?
